Flatbasset Radio: Episode #138 (Best Of 2019 - Live On Radio K)

The new world is order is like the old world order...

Well hello again, everybody. Time to settle all of the 2019's business here on Episode #138.

Much like Episode #137, Flatbasset Radio: Episode #138 is more about continuing a tradition than actually garnering any new listeners. This isn't to say I didn't put the effort in to making this a quality episode. It definitely is. I just know that New Year's Day 2021 is not the ideal time to be posting a best of 2019 show considering all that's gone on in 2020.

Regardless, I do take pride in the annual countdowns and this is no exception. With that in mind, please take note of the other Flatbasset Radio episodes devoted to counting down the best of Radio K

Flatbasset Radio: Episode #53 (Best Of 2014)
Flatbasset Radio: Episode #71 (Best Of 2015)
Flatbasset Radio: Episode #90 (Best Of 2016)
Flatbasset Radio: Episode #114 (Best Of 2017)
Flatbasset Radio: Episode #134 (Best Of 2018)

Also, much like the countdown of Current songs, I'm hopelessly devoted to the live in-studio sessions that the folks at Radio K post each week. I highly, highly suggest you follow this link and check them out for yourselves. They really cover a lot of ground.

It was a really deep pool of great performances in Studio K in 2019, but I think I've narrowed it down to the 10 most exceptional.

Alright, let's get to the show.

As always, Flatbasset Radio is completely free. I've finally set up a decent downloading site, so if you'd like to download Flatbasset Radio: Episode #138 (with all the appropriate iTunes tagging), just click here.

Count it down, Robot Ralph!

There you have it, folks. As a reminder, I paid no money for these songs and I receive no money for this podcast. I'm not affiliated with the U of M or Radio K in any way. I'm just a guy counting down the hits. Please don't sue me.

Thanks for listening!

Flatbasset Radio's 25 Most Played Albums: November '17

Well hello everybody. Welcome to another edition of Album Collage Monthly!

Folks, I don't know about you, but my November was straight trash. I won't bore you with the details, but too much worky, not enough sleepy, not enough bloggy... It wasn't any fun. It was so bad, in fact, that it bled into December and pushed this post back a day. I'm sorry for that, but really, if you spent yesterday refreshing this blog waiting for the collage you have problems far worse than mine.

Anyway, as always, big thanks to everybody who checked out the lone show I posted this month. No matter how rough things are, I take sincere joy out of playing that Descendents song every Thanksgiving. It really does say the things I'd like to in a much better (and catchier) way than I can. Sincere thanks to all the bands who play the way they play and help push through the darker days.

Let's get to the thing.

(As always, one "play" equals one song. For example, the new Mozzer album has 12 songs on it, so each time I listen to it front to back it counts as twelve "plays." As usual, all stats come from my Last.FM page. Give it a follow if you really want to stay up on what's getting the most plays.)

01. Shredders - Dangerous Jumps (84 plays)

02. Morrissey - Low In High School (84 plays)

03. Yeah Wings - Tomorrow WillBe Better (63 plays)

04. Buck 65 - Situation (55 plays)

05. Blaha - 499-456 (55 plays)

06. Descendents - Liveage! (54 plays)

07. Local H - Hallelujah! I'm A Bum (51 plays)

08. V/A - EIS Sampler 2013 // 2014 (50 plays)

09. V/A - Unpop 154 (47 plays)

10. The Replacements - All For Nothing/Nothing For All (46 plays)

11. Jay-Z - American Gangster (45 plays)

12. Fragile Canyons - Adapting To The Cosmos (44 plays)

13. Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables (42 plays)

14. Superchunk - Superchunk (40 plays)

15. Liam Gallagher - As You Were (37 plays)

16. Vangelis - Blade Runner (36 plays)

17. Unwound - Repetition (36 plays)

18. The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (33 plays)

19. The Killers - Sawdust (33 plays)

20. Bedhead - WhatFunLifeWas (33 plays)

21. Romantica - Control Alt Country Delete (32 plays)

22. Buffalo Springfield - Again (30 plays)

23. Greg Graffin - American Lesion (30 plays)

24. Jens Lekman - Life Will See You Now (30 plays)

25. Cream - Disraeli Gears (30 plays)

There you have it, folks. Stay tuned for more shows throughout December!

Flatbasset Radio: Episode #107

What makes those eyes of yours look into mine?

Well hello again, podcast fans! Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #107!

That's right, everybody, I'm trying my best to stay on my "weekly show" routine. This is a rare Monday show, but I'm counting it anyway.

As always I've got a great batch of songs lined up on this week's show. There are some great shows coming up this week, I'm still making up for some missed anniversaries, my favorite active band, a mid-show jazz break, a not-insignificant amount of great new local music, the Cover Of The Week, my vote for Spoon's best album, some Canadian pop, some American hip-hop, and yet another heartbreaking Flatbasset Flatclassic.

As always, Flatbasset Radio is completely free. I've finally set up a decent downloading site, so if you'd like to download Flatbasset Radio: Episode #107 (with all the appropriate iTunes tagging), just click here.

If you don't have the time or desire to download the show, just click the Mixcloud player below and you're good to go.
