Flatbasset Radio's 25 Most Played Albums: February '16

Well hello again, everybody. Welcome to another edition of Things I Listened To On The Bus Monthly!

That's right, another month is in the rear view mirror, which means it's time for a dose of instant nostalgia.

Before we get to the list I'd like to throw a big thank you out to all artists & labels that took a moment to like, share, or retweet the show. I literally have no other means of exposure,so each of those shares means a lot to me.

Of course, those shares don't mean much if nobody listens to the show so I'd like to extend a XXL thank you to anybody who gave it a listen. Hopefully you enjoyed it.

Alright, let's get to the list.

(As always, one "play" equals one song. For example, the new Dizzy Fae mixtape has 10 songs on it, so each time I listen to it front to back it counts as ten "plays." As usual, all stats come from my Last.FM page. Give it a follow if you really want to stay up on what's getting the most plays.)

01. Panther Ray - Twilight Drips (103 plays)

02. Dizzy Fae - Free Form (72 plays)

Flatbasset Radio: Episode #117

Perhaps it isn't what you wanted or even what you're looking for...

Well hello again, everybody! Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #117!

That's right, folks, it's a rare Monday afternoon episode of the show. I had planned on getting the show done on Friday, but I was unfortunately waylaid by a cold, a hockey game, and work. These things happen. Someday they'll pay me to do these shows and then I won't have any more excuses.

If you're a fan of the show you likely know what you're getting into with Episode #117. I've got jams on jams on banter on more jams. Along the way I discuss overrated albums of the 90's, underrated albums of the 90's, trying to do my part to support indie labels, French guitar instrumentals, the resurfacing of the old "Minneapolis Sound," one of my favorite Twin Cities producers, my latest Glaswegian obsession, and plenty more. Of course I also have the Cover Of The Week, a dive into Nate's Archives, a trip in the Minnesota Way-Back Machine, and the Flatbasset Flatclassic.

As always, Flatbasset Radio is completely free. I've finally set up a decent downloading site, so if you'd like to download Flatbasset Radio: Episode #117 (with all the appropriate iTunes tagging), just click here.

Here's how Ep. #117 plays out:

Newest Industry Presents: Flatbasset Radio - Episode #21

(THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARS ON THE TWIN CITIES BLOG NEWEST INDUSTRY)

Give us a drink and make it quick...

Hello again, free music fans! Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #21!

For those of you who are unaware of the Flatbasset Radio format, here's what you're looking at: TCDroogsma is our resident MP3 junkie. As you've probably noticed in his Songs Of The Week column, he's not always the most positive music fan. In an effort to prove that he is, in fact, a fan of music, we give him an hour each week to play the songs he's digging and talk a little bit about them. Once he's recorded his podcast we put it right here on the website for free to stream!

In this week's episode Droogsy looks forward to that cane life, admires a revenge-based trailblazer, reads to us from the New York Times, questions the drinking habits of his peers, admits to missing the point of most songs, dedicates a song to good pet owners, mispronounces both accessories & band names, finds himself in a "Remix Warp," calls for Uptown's transition to "Little Woodbury," and pays tribute to a Twin Cities icon.

You can download the podcast for free by clicking the episode's title or stream the episode by clicking on the Mixcloud player below.

Newest Industry Presents: Flatbasset Radio - Episode #7 (2012 Song Of The Day Countdown!)

(THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARS ON THE TWIN CITIES BLOG NEWEST INDUSTRY)

There's no way to forget it all...

Well hello again, music fans! Welcome back to Flatbasset Radio!

December is list making time and we're no exception. This week's podcast is a special one as TCDroogsma counts down his 15 favorite tracks given away by The Current via their Song Of The Day podcast!

As well as running ten minutes longer than he was allowed, TCDroogsma struggles to title his own podcast, loses all credibility with the youth of the Twin Cities, bases his top choice on his own unique life situation, and explains exactly why it is that he's obsessed with the Song Of The Day podcast even though he kind of hates it.
