Flatbasset Radio: Episode #100

Who else sounded like this?

Well hello again, everybody! Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #100!

That's right, folks, we made it! 100 episodes. That's nearly four straight days worth of shows if you played them back to back. I do not recommend playing them all back to back as my nasal voice will haunt both your dreams & nightmares, but regardless, that's a lot of damn shows.

This week's show is filled with all sorts of gems. Their are some outstanding local shows coming up this weekend, a stellar Cover Of The Week, three new songs from three major artists, the Flatbasset Flatclassic, and all the mumbling & "ummm's" that I probably should have learned to avoid about 50 episodes ago. Like I said, great show.

As always, Flatbasset Radio is completely free. I've finally set up a decent downloading site, so if you'd like to download Flatbasset Radio: Episode #100 (with all the appropriate iTunes tagging), just click here.

If you don't have the time or desire to download the show, just click the Mixcloud player below and you're good to go.

Flatbasset Radio: Episode #84

Let the lights dim some...

Well hello again, podcast fans. Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #84!

Folks, I'm sorry I wasn't able to record a show last week. I was very busy dogsitting. Those dogs, man. Did you know you have to feed them every day? Every fucking day! That must be the life.

Anyway, I'm back this week with a new show. Yessir, 13 new/old jams to help us all slog through another ungodly August. In this week's show I talk about summer in the city, disappointing reunion albums, one classic SoCal band paying homage to another classic SoCal band, MinneSarah's birthday request, "Black Springsteen," just what today's biggest pop stars have in common, the beautifully strange days of 1996, the coolest person of the last 30 years, nostalgia for label samplers, and much more. All this plus a healthy dose of local music, the Cover Of The Week, & the Flatbasset Flatclassic!

As always, Flatbasset Radio is completely free. I've finally set up a decent downloading site, so if you'd like to download Flatbasset Radio: Episode #84 (with all the appropriate iTunes tagging), just click here.

If you don't have the time or desire to download the show, just click the Mixcloud player below and you're good to go.

Newest Industry Presents - Flatbasset Radio: Episode #40 (Canada Day Special!)

(THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARS ON THE TWIN CITIES BLOG NEWEST INDUSTRY)

Are you drunk right now?

Hello, podcast fans!  Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #40!

For those of you who are unaware of the Flatbasset Radio format, here's what you're looking at: TCDroogsma is our resident MP3 junkie. As you've probably noticed in his Songs Of The Week column, he's not always the most positive music fan. In an effort to prove that he is, in fact, a fan of music, we give him an hour each week to play the songs he's digging and talk a little bit about them. Once he's recorded his podcast we put it right here on the website for free to stream and/or download!

Folks, it's Canada Day!  To celebrate TCDroogsma made his way over to St. Paul to record an all Canada themed podcast with MinneSarah!  After indulging in Labatt's & poutine, they discuss what constitutes a "cover," whether or not there's still a Cheapo Records in St. Paul, Buffalo Wild Wings, the stereotype that Canada is "charmingly vanilla," Canadian "independence," the politeness of Canadian ferry captains, trying to find the Twin Cities hardcore scene in British Columbia, Drake's anonymity among the over 30 crowd, the Vancouver sports scene, drinking on ferries, and the lasting influence of one of Canada's great bands!  All that plus the Cover Of The Week & Flatbasset Flatclassic!

You can download the podcast for free by clicking the episode's title or stream the episode by clicking on the Mixcloud player below.

Newest Industry Presents: Flatbasset Radio - Episode #27

(THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARS ON THE TWIN CITIES BLOG NEWEST INDUSTRY)

I use a walkie talkie just to get a beverage...

Hello again, free music fans! Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #27!

In this week's episode TCDroogsma indulges in some warm weather jams, explains why spending winter in rural Wisconsin is a bad idea, recalls the most passive-aggressive concert audience he's ever seen,  ties his Cover Of The Week & its singer together in pathos, thinks Drake deserves more credit for his work outside of music, discusses the best way to stay warm during a polar vortex, wonders just what happened to hearty Minnesotans, indulges in a Scottish set,  lays some blame at Stuart Murdoch's feet,  fails to live up to his obligations as a "31 year old, skinny, bearded white guy," impolores one of indie rock's cult favorites to reform, pays tribute to a musician who passed too young, & loses a sponsor!

You can download the podcast for free by clicking the episode's title or stream the episode by clicking on the Mixcloud player below.
