Well hello again, everybody! Welcome to Flatbasset Radio: Episode #131!

Folks, last Sunday we celebrated some of the finest work coming from our brothers & sisters in the Great White North. Now, I may be a few days late, however, it was just America's birthday which means it's time for my favorite episode of the year. That's right, it's time to induct six new albums into the Flatbasset Radio American Album Hall Of Fame.

Before we get to this year's inductees, let me bombard you with some links to the previous induction ceremonies:

Before we get to the albums, though, here's a quick reminder of the FRAAHOF's criteria:

01. An album must be at least 10 years old to be inducted into the FRAAHOF

02. Only 6 albums per year may be inducted

03. Only 2 of those 6 albums may have been released over 30 years ago

04. No artist can appear in consecutive years 

So, with those criteria in mind, here's a look at this year's inductees:

This year's class is a curious one in that it contains a couple of first-ballot Hall Of Famers, a couple that may only be FRAAHOF-worthy to me, and a couple undeniable pillars of American alternative rock. Unlike previous years, we're upping the song count to four per album plus plenty of me rabblin' on trying (and failing) to adequately explain my reasoning behind their enshrinement. It's a good time.

How ya been?  I know it's been a while since I last posted a show and I apologize for that. In my defense, I'm very busy & very sleepy.

However, this past weekend was Flatbasset Radio's three year anniversary and that seemed like an appropriate reason to get back on the mic.

As usual, this week's show has jams for days. I also find time to discuss the pros & cons of reunion albums, one of the 80's biggest bands, what type of music is done best by Brits & what style is done best in the Midwest, & getting lost in the bass.  I also check in on some of the show's friends, celebrate some anniversaries, get into the Cover Of The Week & celebrate one of my favorite albums with the Flatbasset Flatclassic.

Flatbasset Radio: Episode #43 (w/MinneSarah)

When I've got the music I've got a place to go...

Well hello again, everybody.  Welcome to the slightly remodeled Flatbasset Radio show.

For anybody who's been following along over the last couple of years, you probably know that the show is usually posted over on the Twin Cities blog Newest Industry.  Unfortunately, despite my high hopes for Newest Industry, I'm shutting it down for several reasons.  Lack of interest from readers, lack of participation from contributors, and, most relevantly, a nasty tendency for the site to redirect you to bullshit advertisements when trying to listen to the Flatbasset Radio show on the page.

As such, I'll be posting the show here on the Flatbasset blog going forward.  Here's hoping that the same sort of redirection doesn't begin occurring here as well.  If you continue to have issues playing the show here feel free to hop over to the Mixcloud page to give it a spin (evidently these issues do not extend to that website).  Also, as you may or may not have noticed, I do post the show for download each week.  Click on the title of the show and you can just download the show and listen to it at your leisure.  Either way, it's good to have options.

This also means that the show will no longer be posted on the Newest Industry Facebook page (which is how most people find out about new episodes).  To keep up with the show and the blog, do me a favor and hit up the Flatbasset Radio Facebook page and give it a "Like."  I'd appreciate it.

For those of you who are unaware of the Flatbasset Radio format, here's what you're looking at: TCDroogsma is our resident MP3 junkie. As you've probably noticed in his Songs Of The Week column, he's not always the most positive music fan. In an effort to prove that he is, in fact, a fan of music, we give him an hour each week to play the songs he's digging and talk a little bit about them. Once he's recorded his podcast we put it right here on the website for free to stream and/or download!
